Christine, the artists niece and  daughter of his oldest brother Edward, had this portrait painted in 1968 by her "Uncle V" - as she fondly called him.  She was the inspirational muse for many of his paintings, created in several styles through the 1950s, '60s and early '70s.  The artist's skill at traditional portrait painting, and his ability to capture subtleties of expression, are evident in this true to life rendition of his beloved Christine.
